Do I have to pay for flights before applying?

No — a reservation is normally sufficient, and paid non-refundable tickets are risky before a decision. We use bookings that hold the itinerary without exposing you.

Does a Schengen visa cover Ireland or the UK?

No. Both are outside the Schengen area and require their own visas.

Can a refusal be appealed?

Each Schengen state has its own appeal mechanism and deadline. Often a properly rebuilt fresh application is more effective than an appeal, but that depends on the refusal ground.

A short-stay Schengen visa is filed with the country of your main destination. Where several countries carry equal weight, it is filed with the country of first entry. Filing with the wrong mission is one of the fastest ways to lose an appointment slot.

The 90/180 rule is calculated on a rolling basis, not per calendar year or per country. Every day spent in the area counts against the same allowance.

Consulates assess four things above all: a credible purpose, adequate and traceable funds, confirmed accommodation and transport, and evidence that you will leave the area before the visa expires.

No overstays or adverse immigration history in the area
